This policy applies to all courses offered by UVA Engineering.What level of course performance constitutes a C or a D-minus is at the discretion of the course instructor based on the grading policy outlined in the course syllabus.Students who are graded as NC will not receive credit for the course. In the School of Engineering, students who complete a class with a grade of C-, D+, D, or D- receive general credit (GC) however, a grade of GC will not satisfy any degree requirements for graduate engineering students. Students who remain in the CR/GC/NC option must complete the class with a grade of C or better to receive credit (CR).Courses that were already being taken for CR/NC will not count toward graduation requirements, just as before. Such grades are not factored into a student’s GPA. Courses taken for CR/GC/NC during spring 2020 that would have otherwise counted toward curricular, major, and graduation requirements will continue to do so with a CR grade.They will not be changed to CR/GC/NC, and you will not have the option to receive a letter grade in these courses. Courses offered as satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) will remain this way.You will not be able to change the grading option for any class after 11:59 p.m. EDT to make this decision, and you may change your mind for any class up until the deadline. You will have until Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. To make changes to the grading option for any class, follow these steps. At that time, you may, if you wish, change any (or all) of your classes back to the standard grading option (A through F). ![]() EDT, all of your classes that were being taken for a letter grade will be converted to the default grading option of Cred/GenCred/NoCred Spring 2020. You must decide whether to receive a letter grade by the last day of spring semester classes on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
